F.A.Q.

1. Q: What is powder coating?

A.: Powder coating is a process in which a powder is electrostactically applied to a metal part and then placed in an oven to cure to create a durable finish that can withstand weather and impacts.

2. Q: What can be powder coated?

A: Any metal part steel, cast iron, aluminum that can withstand a 400 degee oven.  No pot metal or low temp metals as they would melt.  Also, any piece containing plastic, rubber, glass, filler(bondo), etc. could also melt.  The piece also must br rust, oil, grease, paint free to ensure a desirable finish.  New pieces work well because they are relatively clean.  The surface of the piece is critical in the outcome of the finish. If you start out with a smooth clean piece of metal, the finish will be smooth also.  If the surface is pitted or has imperfections (Pitted from where rust was) the final finish would be pitted or textured.

3. Q: Can a piece be repaired or coated?

A: Yes, we offer repair services where we can use a special filler that can withstand the high oven heat.  Also, we can strengthen and reinforce pieces by welding on or replacing with new metal.

4. Q: Can you powder coat old rusty pieces and parts?

A: Yes, we offer outdoor sandblasting and indoor cabinet blasting services as well as high pressure steam cleaning to prepare parts for powder coating.

5. Q: How large of a piece can you powder coat?

A: We can accommodate any piece that can fit in our oven which is 15ft. deep 6ft. wide and 7ft. high. We do many car frames, gates, etc.

6. Q: Is there a minimum order?

A: There is no minimum quantity required for our services we offer.  No job too small and we can accommodate large production orders too.  As long as the pieces can fit our oven we can do it.

7. Q: What colors are available?

A: We have in stock many colors as well as access to hundreds of colors and finishes available. Have a color in mind?  No problem, we can find it or we can have it custom made.  We keep color samples in stock to show what we can get.

8. Q: How much will it cost to powder coat a piece?

A: The price is determined by many factors: Size, shape, amount of powder required to coat, powder availability, condition of part which includes how much time it takes to get the piece ready to coat. So we usually have to see the piece before we can give a definite final price.  We can usually give an estimate according to what we have done in the past.

9. Q: How long will it take to get my part finished?

A: We usually have a one week turnaround.  On parts with bigger projects (car frames, etc), sometimes taking longer but we believe that we have the fastest turnaround in the area.

10. Q: Do you ceramic coat?

A: Yes, we offer a ceramic coating service in which we can provide a durable finish for metal parts that have to resist high heat application such as Hedders, Intake Manifolds, Exhaust Manifolds, Motorcycle pipes, etc.

11. Q: Why ceramic coat?

A: Ceramic coating has two strong factors in which it is beneficial one being a beautiful finish that will always remain beautiful with minimum upkeep.  Unlike chrome pipes that would turn blue from high temperatures a ceramic coating would not change.  Second factor being a performance gain as in our process we would coat a set of motorcycle pipes inside and out providing a smoother path with less restriction for exhaust flow and providing a more heat dissipating surface inside and out for a cooler running exhaust.  Plus the added benefit of a beautiful durable finish makes ceramic coating a very nice alternative to painted or chrome pieces.

11. Q: What finishes and colors are available for ceramic coating?

A: Currently, we offer a choice of cast iron gray, white, satin black, and our most popular cermachrome which has a shiny chrome like finish.  We have pieces in our shop we have done to show our customers what the final product looks like.
